Scratchy is wearing a maroon-shaded wool shirt, which had been bought for motivations behind enrichment, and made basically by some Jewish ladies on the East Side of New York (215). Their exertion is to proceed with their hazardous development and increment the level of this development. They additionally plan to build frequencies on many existing courses just as extending load limit by 17 percent. Ecological examination The associations condition is a significant point to be considered by supervisors in light of the fact that natural variables can altogether impact authoritative tasks. Great administrators must know about their associations condition and ability any progressions may influence the association and their associations accessible assets. (Robson 1997) Remote condition Remote condition investigation records every one of those occasions, issues and realities which will impact the organization execution, however over which they have little impact and those realities are generally wild. Nature of the earth The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has the seventh biggest demonstrated oil, as indicated by the Oil and Gas Journal in January 2009. In light of this topography, United Arab Emirates has rich regular assets and high measure of normal assets of fuel. The accessibility of enormous measure of fuel in UAE causes Emirates to give fuel to its airplanes a lot simpler than its aircraft organizations. (Business news, 2007) Political difficulties One reason that had critical effect on Emirates was encountering a downturn of their rivals as a result of the Gulf War. Bay War was a war which occurred in the Persian Gulf between 2 August 1990 and 28 February 1991. As a result of this political war, Emirates was the main carrier to fly over the most recent ten days of the war. (Press, 2001) Economies Dubai International Airports Terminal 3 was assembled only for the utilization of Emirates at an expense of $4.5 billion. Terminal 3 is the biggest structure on the planet by floor space. The impact of this condition is that numerous individuals might need to utilize this trip so as to visit the biggest structure on the planet despite the fact that they have other decision of airlines.(Caswell, 2008) Modern condition Joined Arab Emirates (Dubai), which was an angling town at the southern finish of the Arabian Gulf, has developed to get one of the main exchange focal point of the Middle East. Huge number of organizations and exchanges are running in there. Examining the key elements of the earth and the principal interior qualities and shortcoming of the association will help direct the systems proper to the organizations. (Robson, 1997) Quality: Qualities are the positive inner variables that enhance the organization. New business thought: One of the realities that makes associations more grounded is the point at which they make another business thought. In 2005, Emirates started flying relentless to New York. This happened when just Delta Air Lines had a similar assistance. In this way Emirates began to give an assistance which was not given by such a large number of aircrafts, and that encourages them in expanding the quantity of their clients Notoriety: Another interior factor that makes the business solid is having acceptable notoriety among clients. For instance: In 2009, Emirates was casted a ballot the fifth best aircraft on the planet by inquire about consultancy firm Skytrax. *Skytrax is a United Kingdom-based consultancy, the open substance of Inflight Research Services Upper hand: Emirates has won some upper hands which made this organization as one of the great aircrafts. Item in Emirates is the administrations that carrier is accommodating its clients, for example, flight, nourishment. Flight Emiratess offering is separated into three fundamental lines; The First Class seat, the Business class seat and the Economy class. In every one of the three classes traveler are given by high caliber and agreeable seats, in-seat PC electrical plugs, and an ICE framework on a LCD screen. Business and firs class have more offices incorporate back rub work, protection segment, winged headrest with six-way development, two individual understanding lights and an overhead light for each seat, in-seat power flexibly, more than 600 channels of amusement on ICE. Emirates was the main carrier on the planet to present an individual theater setup on a business airplane and that was a valid justification for them to increase completive points of interest. Shortcomings: These are the negative inward factor that annihilates estimations of organization or put the organization in chance. All things considered it is hard to state what are the shortcomings Emirates, since Emirates is considered as one of the most regarded travel marks far and wide. Anyway there are still a few shortcomings that Emirates need to improve. I can say that one of the Emirates shortcomings is having costly ticket cost particularly for the business and top notch. Emirates began to lose a portion of its client when Qatar Airline offered a similar trip with less expensive tickets. Openings: Openings are outer positive factors that speak to the explanation behind an association to exist and create. One of the open doors that can increase the value of the organization is having accomplices, offices or dissemination. Emirates has 6 auxiliaries and its parent company(Emirates Group). These auxiliaries which are working independently can give Emirates benefits. Emirates SkyCargo Skywards Emirates Official Store EmQuest Emirates Aviation College Emirates Engineering Dangers: Dangers are outer negative variables which could put the association crucial activity in danger. Market request In the business carrier industry, unfilled seat on a normally planned flight speaks to a risk cost to the administrator. Despite the fact that Emirates endeavor to offer the best administrations for the explorers, it is unimaginable all the seats get fill during all the flights. Contender aims Another risk that may be threat for Emirates is its serious in the market. While Emirates has one of the most present day armadas in the business, and has administration levels make different aircrafts to copy, and begin utilizing a similar technique that Emirates is utilizing. (Williamson et al. 2004) Section 2: Information framework Analysis There are four administrative levels in any association that are liable for associations plans and choices; key, strategic, information and activity levels. The Experience Of Becoming A Family - 1638 Words

Endeavoring to become a family health nurse has been a long and rock-strewn journey. Yet, like climbing a mountain with its downfalls and peaks, I have become more astute in managing circumstances and have developed a new understanding of what a family nurse embodies. The purpose of this paper will be to illuminate the experience of becoming a family-oriented nurse and how I utilized my knowledge from Family Health course to achieve this outcome. I will deliberate on an event that summarizes my experience, what I have discovered about myself, applying themes from works of literature, and the development of future goals. I will then conclude with a brief summary of my comic manifesto. Such activity placed the complexity of relational practice into a simple picture in which one can visualize how the developed strengths and unique expertise of individuals were rooted by context. Indeed, in deterring from the attitude of the expert nurse to adopting the concept of shared expertise, I have noticed a decrease in my tendency to label families negatively, and instead, visualize their strengths and built partnerships. The integration of these discoveries into practice was reflected when the patient’s appetite plummeted. In his prolonged stay in the unit, I had witnessed his daughters’ resilience and how they had encouraged their father in ways that others could not. I recalled asking them, â€Å"What does he like to eat? Can you bring food from home? What does he normally do when he feels unwell and how has he or your family managed it?†. In seeking their assistance I had hoped to develop meaningful interventions that best reflected the patient’s culture and life context (Doane Varcoe, 2005). Poetry Comparison Esaay Essay Example For Students

Poetry Comparison Esaay Essay Darlene Damsels Dulcet Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen and The Soldier by Rupert Brooke are both poems borne out of World War One. Despite the vast differences between the two, Rupert Brooke and Wilfred Owen were both poets during the war and their poems were written with 3 years of each other, the Soldier at the start of the war and Dulcet Et Decorum Est towards the very end. Rupert Brooke wrote The Soldier right after the outbreak of the war, when patriotic fervor was high. The soldier persona in he poem reflects on how the loss of his life would be a bittersweet event and that no matter where he dies, his burial place will always have the essence of England. Fighting for Great Britain was the ultimate sacrifice;there was no greater glory than dying for your country. This attitude was far and wide-spread at the start of the war. Brooke however, did not live to see much of the war, as he died of sepsis from a mosquito bite before he was involved in any real combat. Brooke was a celebrated poet and after his death, he became a symbol of the tragic loss of talented youth due o the war. Ironically, Wilfred Owen was Inherently opposed to the war, due to It resulting In the tragic loss of youth. Having experienced the horrors of war flatland, Owen knew that there was nothing glorious about dying men. Dulcet Et Decorum Est is well known for its horrific imagery and its condemnation of war and has a bitter, cynical tone about it. Despite representing similar themes, both poets are vehement in their convictions and they position their reader very differently on the issue of war. Strong use of imagery is characteristic of both poems to position readers to accept heir attitude. The Soldier conjures a pleasant scene of the English countryside to evoke a patriotic feeling, that fighting for England Is expected of a man. Brooks speaks of the glory and honor of war and of the nobility of fighting and dying for England: In that rich earth a richer dust concealed/ a dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware /Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam,] Washed by the rivers, blest by the suns of home. Although the poem speaks of the possibility of dying far from home, the soldier will take with him a piece of England wherever he goes, and this shall physically enrich the soil, make him a richer dust. England is personified as a gentle motherly figure to the soldier persona, she bore, shaped, made aware. The soldier persona also reflects on how England has given him her flowers to love and her ways to roam. The soldier has obviously enjoyed an ideal, privileg ed childhood and these words create a sense of owing that he owes it to England to fight for her. The reference to England being a mother and a woman would also touch the heart of any man postulating them to adopt a protective behavior towards England. He is obliged to fulfill his duty as a true man. This Idyllic English countryside Is faintly reminiscent of a Christian heaven and the use of this imagery is a highly effective method of pulling on the heartstrings of the traditional the purifying waters of the river washing away his sin. The use of the word blest reinforces this Christian image of the soldier being blessed, privileged and glorifies his death. The use of imagery and the language of the poem convey a heavenly, patriotic feel, and it positions the reader to see the importance and necessity of rotting and preserving England, for the better good. Wilfred Owen too uses imagery; however, his poem uses highly confronting imagery to position the reader to accept his view of war. Dulcet Et Decorum Est is a lucid protest against the unspeakable horrors of war. Owen presents the reader with confronting imagery of the war-torn soldiers and off mans horrific death from chlorine gas. Bent double, like old beggars under Jacksons-kneed Floundering like a man in fire or lime.. / As under a green sea, I saw him drowning He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning /Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs As opposed to Brooks reflective, upright soldier, the soldiers in this poem are nothing like the traditional image of the handsome, stoic young soldier. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Owen compares these young men to spen t old beggars, bent double from the weariness. Long gone is the honor and excitement of fighting these are broken men, knock kneed, desensitizing to the horror. .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 , .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .postImageUrl , .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 , .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:hover , .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:visited , .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:active { border:0!important; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:active , .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3 .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u29940d9f3afd0a7cea551cee96a756d3:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Lyric Poetry EssayThe reference to the soldier who could to fit his gas helmet in time as floundering, he is like a fish out of water, drowning in the green sea. Owen describes the awfulness of the situation through the extensive use of onomatopoeia, guttering, choking, gargling these harsh noises adding to the vivid imagery. Owen downright condemns the idea of dying for your country. There is no glory in dying men, puppets in a situation of their control. He uses confronting imagery to present the reader with the harsh realities of the war and to convince the reader that war is futile.

Comparison between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers Essay Example

Comparison between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers Paper The two articles are both about youth culture committing crimes, which are shown in statistics, pictures, text, bullet points and headlines. They give information on the crimes being committed (e. g. how many percent carry knifes). One article comes from The Guardian (broadsheet) and The Mirror (tabloid) The broadsheet shows an impartial view of the story, and gives an honest opinion and it shown is long columns, bullet points and statistics and the bullet points have a description, unlike the tabloid. The tabloid trys to shock us, it trys to convince us that the youth cultures are thugs. They attack the readers, and all that is shown in pictures, articles, columns and statistics. The Mirror uses a large picture trying to really traumatize us; the picture is of a young teenager holding a significantly large knife, the image is used to frighten us. The Mirror has many statistics without really explaining them. The tabloid presents its articles with headlines, subheadings, by-line, images and really have an explanation, The Guardian presents it articles with long headlines, subtitles, by-line, statistics, long columns and the stats are followed by an explanation, which is really easy to understand. The Guardian and The Mirror have big differences, e. g. tabloids have more news about celebrities and gossip, and the broadsheet is about more considerable subjects such as politics and business. Both newspapers have a dissimilar effect, the tabloid trys to shock us, convince us that teenagers are thugs. We will write a custom essay sample on Comparison between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Comparison between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Comparison between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer They pounce on the readers and the broadsheet show a balanced view, tells us that its not that horrific. The tabloid uses a lot of space up on pictures and statistics, which arent explained well. The statistics are shown as large numbers with a little brief explanation: 4% of boys aged 15 to 16 have tried cocaine. But the broadsheet an actual explanation: among 15and 16 year olds, 25% of girls and 30% of boys said they have tried cannabis at least once. As you can see the broadsheet uses a longer, understanding description. The writers opinion of teenagers in the tabloid is prejudiced, but the writer of broadsheet article is balanced and believes that its not that bad, and its says for example things like out of 100 only 4 have sampled cocaine The writer of the tabloid article interviews Barry Anderson and says that he calls them the thugs breed the writer doesnt interview the teenagers to see other side of the story. The broadsheet interviews both adults and teenagers to hear each side, the adults have done confidential interviews with the teenagers, the interviewer also made up a phony drug to catch out liars. The tabloid doesnt interview the so-called thugs to hear their side, so we only hear the writers opinion, so its influences us to believe that teenagers are thugs. The broadsheet uses long complete words which shows that journalists are actually well knowledgeable and do investigate, unlike the tabloid which uses a couple of slang words. Both articles use interviews though in The Guardian the interview is with Barry Anderson who is chief executive of the communities that care, and The Mirror also interviews Barry Anderson. In the tabloid they do not quote him as much, they write that the refers to the teenagers as the thugs breed, the difference in the tabloid splits Barry Anderson quotes all over the article, but the broadsheet puts the whole quote together, dissimilar to the tabloid that use the quotes to validate their point. Even though both articles are about the same subject, they are written in different ways The Guardian uses complex, multi-syllable words such as confidential, criminality, offending, dominantly assumption, representative ect. The tabloid uses, more slang and emotional words such as bring drinking, thugs, and Cinderella. The Mirror uses shorter sentences, which are easier to read, the text is for more ordinary people, unlike the broadsheet which is for more sophisticated/professional people e. g. teachers, doctors, business men ect. ), Because they use more complex text and longer sentences. The broadsheet says, The author stressed that most young people were law abiding most of the time and that would not be placed in The Mirror because they are saying that teenagers are law abiding which is the opposite of what The Mirror believes. The sentences in the two newspapers are different because they are both aimed at different people. The Mirror is for most, ordinary people The Guardian is for more educated/ professional people, The Guardians article uses longer sentences because its contains more information. I personally favour The Guardian because it gives a fair view and gives out more information and gives an easier quote that isnt scattered throughout the article. They give explanations, The Guardian believes that the problem isnt bad, they believe its not a lot they say its bad, but not much. The Mirror says that its appalling, and that the figures are too high. The Mirror is more negative and believes that teenagers are the thugs breed. Unlike the broadsheet which sympathys for the teenagers and believes that most teenagers are law abiding. I believe that the statistics are not that bad, for example only 4 out of every 100 have tried cocaine, but the tabloid disagrees. All in all its bad but not as bad as the tabloid makes it to be.

The Idea of Mcdonaldization essays

The Idea of Mcdonaldization essays George Ritzer discussed two beginnings of his own ideas of Mcdonaldization and hyperrationality that came from the theories of Max Weber. I will first discuss Mcdonaldization and later follow it with Hyperrationality. Ritzer came to grips with the idea when he first saw Mcdonalds as a college freshmen. He also discussed how the two golden arches had an overwhelmingly big effect on him and how when he first ate there he wasnt too impressed with the dish. Ritzer had a good idea of Mcdonaldization because he we born before one was even built, and saw the changes of it throughout his life. Ritzer came with the term of Mcdonaldization and its sweeping affect on how it has changed society as a whole through the years. Mcdonalds foods took over home-cooked meals and the ethnic restaurants abroad. Mcdonaldization not only took America by storm, but also many other countries such as, Russia, China, and even Paris. Mcdonaldization has expanded greatly and can even be seen, on airplanes, in high school and college campuses, as well as on military bases. USA Today even has a section of its paper titled, Mcpaper. Ritzer said that Mcdonaldization was influenced by and broke it mainly down by efficiency, calculability, and predictability. He also discussed the control of the substitution of nonhuman for human technology as well as the irrationality of rationality. Efficiency was his optimum means to an end. He talked about how efficiency was illustrated through drive the windows and the ways that a customer turned to an unpaid laborer. Ritzer gave example of how nowadays you make your own drinks, put your own condiments, and do much of the work yourself. Through efficiency we have also come to use of voice mail operators. He discussed calculability as things that were calculated and quantified. Ritzer said how quantity was key in determining the weigh...

A Project Concept Note Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

A Project Concept Note - Coursework Example otive Innovation geared towards encouraging and recognizing the creation and development of new innovative products, technologies and ideas aimed at changing the face of the UK automotive industry. This concept note has been prepared for the automobile manufacturing companies stressing the importance of employing Knowledge Based Engineering systems with the aim of improving their fields of developmental methodologies through a shorter developmental time thus improving the quality of their systems(ARMSTRONG, 2001:24). The concept of Knowledge Based Engineering(KBE) is without doubt very broad. This is because in product development KBE becomes an important tool with the important function of capturing knowledge and enabling for its reuse. For example,a spreadsheet enables the recycling of knowledge by having the ability to effectively implement equations and/or rules. It is for this reason that this concept note lays emphasis on those tools of Knowledge Based Engineering that function as tools where knowledge is stored in different classes as objects such as Java,C++ and especially takes note of fact that in terms of product prototyping, KBE tools carry out an important role in congruence with geometry engine to effectively put into action the automatic generation of product concept.KBE functions to automate routine and time consuming tasks which thereby accord employees of companies more time to invest in new innovations and adequately find solutions. However, knowledge based system emanating from ar tificial intelligence(AI) captures expert knowledge and more often than not also generate creative solutions, for which it sometimes referred to as ‘expert system’.This paper notes that in the development of KBE systems, numerous methods exists but lays particular emphasis on MOKA as a suitable example that could be adopted by SMMT (The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders), as the development process revolves around capturing and formalizing knowledge which does

Mary Logan - author review Essay Example for Free

Mary Logan author review Essay Mama takes time to explain the prejudices that underlie racist attitudes saying you have to accept the fact that in the world outside this house, things are not always as we would have them to be. Mama explains prejudice used and also explains in a gentle but effective way to Cassie that everybody born on this earth is somebody and nobody, no matter what colour, is better than anybody else. Mama also gives Cassie a lesson about the past, illuminating the familys past and their struggles. She is a caring mother who brings her children up right in the hope that they do not be influenced by the prejudice from whites but to accept everyone equally. In some ways this could be Mary Logans own little contribution to the improvement of the world in the future. Although she is strict with her children, disciplining them when they are disobedient she listens when they have troubles. Usually Mamas beatings consisted of a whipping from her belt but the punishment for Staceys fight and the visit to the Wallace store seemed lenient to the children. At first they were scolded but the children didnt consider that a punishment, and we doubted Mama did either. The real punishment Mama placed upon them was a lesson. She took them up to see Sam Berry and the punishment given to him from whites for disobeying. To me this is a good punishment because not always does a beating make you learn from your mistakes. This however remained in the childrens mind and they did not enter the Wallace store again. The children accept her punishments because they love and respect her. She shows her firmness and strength also when we see her splitting the children up when they are giggling, whipping Stacey and standing by her principles when Harland Granger visits the school. Another characteristic of Mary Logans personality is her cautiousness. For much of the time Papa is away working so therefore Mama is responsible and is the provider for the family. We see her cautiousness at times of increased anger when Papa or Uncle Hammer threatens to confront Mr. Simms or the mob. In both cases Mama tries to prevent them from using violence, it is clear that she prefers to settle things out through non-violent means such as the boycott. Mama fears for the lives of David and Hammer when they reach for the shotgun because she knows the power of the white people is stronger than that of the black man. Another incident where Mama is weary of their actions is when, on their way home, Hammer drives through the bridge where it can only handle one car at a time. Blacks often have to back down for whites to cross it first. Hammer meets the Wallaces and drives on. Mama says that theyll have to pay for that later. Again there is a reminder of the fact that Mama prefers not to use violent mean to settle a conflict when, driving past the Wallace store Hammer makes the comment that he would like to burn the place down. Mama quickly replies saying there are other ways. We are aware that Mama was loved as a child as we hear from Papa referring to Mamas father that every penny hed get his hands on hed put it aside for her schooling This again gives us an idea as to where Mamas kindness and deep need to provide come from. Mamas an educated woman as she learned in a teacher training school and has been employed in the local school for fourteen years. We are also made aware of her education, as her spoken English, like the prose of the novel, is perfect and relatively free from colloquial Americanisms unlike the rest of the Logan family members. We hear from Cassies description that Mama is a beautiful woman. With a slender body and smell of sunshine and soap Cassie feels her Mother is pretty. Mary Logan makes the best of what she has. She uses cardboard lining to disguise the worn out shoes, which Cassie felt uncomfortable for Mama. She cares for the family very much so and has dinner ready when any are hungry, she uses half the ingredients so she will have enough for the next time, this shows Mama plans things out and genuinely cares. The points above all describe how Mary Logan is a strict but loving and understanding parent, a Brave, noble citizen and courageous teacher. I admire greatly how she gives up so much to offer a small part of pleasure to the lives of her children. In many ways Mama is unflawed, proving right in many circumstances and standing up for what she believes in. This woman is an inspiration to all blacks, mothers or people who find it hard to be recognized or respected. I feel she has done her best to bring up children who may be different and change the future, to accept people not by their skin colour or religion but by the content of their character. surgery on amputations :: essays research papers

Amputation is a surgery to remove a limb or part of a limb. Amputation can also happen as an accident, which is called a traumatic amputation. Who is a candidate for the procedure? Amputation is most often used for one of four conditions:  · gangrene, which is a severe limb infection with death of tissue  · lack of enough blood flow through the arteries that supply blood and oxygen to the affected limb  · severe trauma or injury of a limb  · cancer or a tumor involving a limb Amputation has serious emotional and physical effects. For this reason, limb removal is usually advised only when other options are not possible or have little chance of success. How is the procedure performed? There are many different ways to perform an amputation. A single finger or toe may be removed, or an entire arm or leg. The surgeon will usually try to remove as little of the limb as needed to treat the condition. An amputation is done in an operating room. In many cases, general anesthesia is used to put the person completely to sleep with medications. Regional anesthesia may also be used. In this case, a person is awake but has no sensation of pain. The area of skin where the incision will be made is cleaned. The surgeon then cuts into and through the skin. In most cases, the surgeon will remove the limb or part of the limb at a point where there is a joint. For instance, the entire leg below the knee may be removed. The knee area is chosen partly because this is where the shinbone, or tibia, meets the thighbone, or femur. Removing the part or whole limb at a joint prevents the need to break one of the bones. After the part or whole limb is removed, the skin is closed with sutures. A bandage or dressing is then placed over it. What happens right after the procedure? The person is taken to a surgery recovery room while he or she wakes up from the surgery. Pain medication is given if needed. Antibiotics and other medications may also be given. When the person is awake and his or her vital signs are within normal limits, he or she is usually taken back to a bed in the surgical inpatient unit. In most cases, the person will need to stay in the hospital for at least 1 or 2 more days.

Gadget have destroyed communication among friends Essay

Nowadays, everyone has a smartphone, tablets, or any other kinds of mobile devices. And one of the most appealing traits of these devices is accelerating the dissemination of information and knowledge, which means you can grab any news you’re interested in anytime and anywhere. However, the mobile devices have also destroyed communication among our friends and family. For instance, when I went out with my friends and had a dinner with them, most of us just focused on the tiny little screens on our hands without talking to each other. Moreover, they chatted with each other via Facebook even when they just sat nearby. In other words, these mobile devices have not only improved the quality of communication, well†¦on the Internet, but also have destroyed communication among friends directly. Therefore, I think that we all need to figure out the original intentions that drives us want to use a smartphone, such as productivity improvement, joyfulness, or merely pursuit of vanity. No matter what the motivation it is, trying not to be obsessed with these gadgets is the most important thing to us. 3 THOUGHTS ON â€Å"SMARTPHONES AND TABLETS HAVE DESTROYED COMMUNICATION AMONG FRIENDS.† You’re right about this; it’s such a shame that people really don’t talk face-to-face anymore. I like to make a rule at family meals that we all put away the phones and gadgets for the time that we’re eating. It helps to make a shoebox or something that everyone can put their stuff in so everyone knows no one else is checking theirs. 😛 But, yeah, people have to learn again to ‘be with the people who are HERE,’ as the person who gave me the shoebox idea wrote on hers. Do you think we’ll ever see that personal communication come back, or have we gone too far already? Reply Well, in my personal opinion, people may think that the contents in the tiny little screens are much more interesting than everything we face in the real world. That’s the key of this issue. Unless we have noticed the seriousness of the problem by ourselves, just like your family dining rule, I think we have gone too far indeed. Thanks for your comments!! Reply Reblogged this on John-King.me and commented: Good post and raises a valid point that now people are so distracted by their

Essay Personal Swot - 698 Words

Introduction This is my personal SWOT analysis. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses are both internal to the person or company. Opportunities and threats are both external to the person or company. Strengths I feel blessed to have some of these qualities in my â€Å"corner† so to speak. I don’t think I could have accomplished as much as I have if it weren’t for some of these strengths. * Strong math skills * Team player * Strong drive to improve weaknesses * Patient * Highly competitive Weaknesses I have worked hard to get where I currently am in life, but I feel some of my qualities have held me back. Since one of my strengths is a strong drive to improve my†¦show more content†¦* Being a UT student, I am exposed to many employment opportunities * With an accounting degree, my employment options are vast * Free education * The stock market is down (may be a good time and way to improve the money threat) Threats These are some current threats facing my life and my career, but they feed my need to become successful in life and my career. * Many intelligent students at UT (competition is high) * Life shortened do to incurable disease * Lack of money Steps to Turn Threats into Opportunities Before coming to a big school such as UT, I knew there would be many intelligent students, so I prepared myself by making the best grades possible, usually straight A’s.
